One of many offshoots of the original Ivar's Acres of Clams, the Salmon House represents the Seattle institution's attempt at contemporary dining. Located in a replica Indian longhouse, the restaurant features salmon and meats alder-smoked on the open-pit Indian-style barbecue. The chef does best with straightforward seafood preparations. Service was exceptional. Dining outside in great weather and watching the boats go by. Seattle experience at its finest!
Ridiculously slow service following initial greeting. We ordered one clam and one salmon chowder, two clam chowders we're served, waiter returned 15 min later with 4 salmon chowders and just started passing them out saying, this is on me. My entree plate arrived cold, with the wrong portions. Had to get a buss boy to get get a waiter to bring my bill, and the manager eventually picked it up. The salmon is always wonderful. The atmosphere is great and service is fast and friendly. Wouldn’t miss Ivan’s when we are in Seattle
