Irazu is Chicago's first and only Costa Rican restaurant and we've been perfecting our style for the past 27 years. We've been a mainstay in the heart of Bucktown, just steps from the O'Hare Blue Line (Western station) and "The 606". This was my first time going and I was so excited to get a little comfort food from my beautiful Costa Rica. I was disappointed with the plátanos maduros. They were dry and not very sweet. And the two guys serving were not tico friendly. They barely spoke with us and we had to call them a few times to clear some plates. They forgot one of our plates and honestly is not the Costa Rican atmosphere we are use to. The chifrijo was really good! Highly recommended!
Always delicious. The gallo pinto takes me back to my days studying abroad in Costa Rica. This place is a must visit every time I’m in Chicago.

I absolutely love Costa Rica! I was thrilled to learn of Irazu in Chicago! The food there was like traveling to my very favorite destination. I highly recommend it! The service was also amazing. The ambience and color choices of the restaurant were also very nice and reminiscent of Costa Rica. I love the bar stool seating with open shutters in summer! Highly recommend! This place has a great vibe! You won’t be disappointed! 🇨🇷❤️
The food at Irazu is awesome I would give this restaurant a 5/5 not just cause its a Costa Rican restaurant but because the cooks are Costa Rican and they cook the food awesome
