This small, simple, but inviting Indian restaurant features unusual and exotic dishes such as Prawn-Do-Pyaza and Hyderabadi Chicken Curry, with spices, apricot, and potato straws. The vegetarian menu will be more familiar to Westerners, but equally tasty. Service is friendly (if not always completely expert). Parking can be a challenge. Snag a temporary, illegal spot in front and check with the maitre d' on parking tips first.

fiery!!! – Appetizer (some onion pancake in way too dry a dough) were average, but the entrees: one lamb curry, one cheese balls in sauce, both of them ordered hot. They were the most amazing and delicious indian food I've had. The cheese dish was much milder (later inquiry revealed the waiter, out of respect for my date, did not upgrade her order to 911, as he did mine), but still hot hot hot on any other scale. Spicy food lover will order 'double 911'. Even though super spicy, the lamb dish revealed nice flavors and nice c... read more
I love tis restaurant – this india is the best restaurant inthe whole wide world.I would reccomend this restaurant to everybody that i know the food is exxelent I just love the saag and the service is really really good.
I go to this restaurant for the first time.I heared a lot about the restaurant they said that the India clay oven is the best restaurant in town and that was true.the food is the best.the service is also exellent.
Cold. – Hi, went to India Clay Oven for the first time last night (Tues). This place wasn't bad, it wasn't good either. My food was warm not hot so it got cold quickly, the samosas were not fresh, but the naan was excellent as was the mango lassi (very fruity as opposed to creamy). The service was quick but not too friendly and it was cold in there! Don't forget your jacket.
What is the big deal? – When this restaurant first opened I thought it was incredible, however the last couple of time I went there, I thought the portions were small, the service as lousy an the food was not great. Why this place keeps getting best of's is a complete mystery to me.
winston & gale – We go here at least 4-times a week for lunch, and once or twice a week for dinner. since we work different shifts, I work Days and Gale works swing shifts, the Clay Oven has become our favorite kitchen. The Food has always been Great, the Service has been beyond compare. The staff has always treated us like royalty, even at the busiest times. We recomend this restaurant to friends and family!
Good food, decent prices, spicy dishes – We have been to this restaurant some 10+ times. Service is consistently friendly though not of highest promptness. Food is always good, especially if you like spicy dishes and ask for '911 hot'. I always thought the prices were reasonable compared to many others in the city I have been to (although Shalimar and Star of India top my list). Parking in the area can be a little challenging although they do validate for up to two hours. Also, we never had to wait for pretty good food. I wo... read more
I waited and waited – For a recent lunch visit I waited for 15 minutes before a server finally appeared from the rear of the restaurant. When I had arrived there was no one in the dining room so I decided to wait. Then I was told that the kitchen was "not working" yet. This was in spite of the fact that I was there during hours they said they were open, and the door was open. I ordered and waited until my lunch was finally served about 30 minutes later. The food was not worth it. It's a place to be avoided.
