First and last time here, which is too bad since we live quite close. But three great reminders of why we almost never eat out — 1. Restaurant food is simply not as good as it could and should be, 2. One of the best meals I've had in Norfolk. Service was excellent, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the spaghetti with blue crab, Edwards bacon, and sungold-saffron sauce might be one of my favorite dishes anywhere. A great addition to the city. I'd eat here again in a heartbeat.
As a European who has lived in the south of France, I tend to judge a restaurant by the pleasure of eating well and the desire to return. Ilo Bistro gave me both. It is an address I would gladly recommend to friends accustomed to the everyday pleasures of Europeans restaurants, in particular Parisien and Mediterranean. Long time vistor, first time reviewer. Ilo is a must go and dine. We went a couple of weeks ago and had a top notch meal. The service was incredible and the food was to die for. The head chef there is a wizard in the kitchen who crafts the most decadent meals. The salmon was best salmon I've ever had and my wife's gnocchi was right up there. If you're ever in Norfolk go there and give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Definitely will come back.
