Il Mulino

4.5

About this business

Many New Yorkers believe Il Mulino restaurant, nestled in Greenwich Village, has the finest classic Italian cuisine in New York City. As a result, reservations can be very hard to come by, but it is often much easier to snag a table at lunch. A meal at Il Mulino can be quite expensive, but portions are definitely on the large side. The service is of course professional and attentive, and the decor is classy and subdued.

It Used to be a Contender! – Once upon a time, this was THE Italian in the City. And, you probably could have found some folks who said it was the best anywhere. Not any more! It's pompous, overpriced, overcrowded and overrated! There are plenty of other top-notch Italians where you don't have to put up with the BS and the ridiculous prices! Ask about the prices on Specials and check your bill! They'll rip you off if you let them! Oh! The food?? Lots of it but marginal at best!

WOW.. – Best Italian place in the city. Food is fantastic! Second only to Santopadre or Tre Scalini in Roma. But bring you wallet and make reservations. I had the pleasure of someone else paying, which always works for me..

AMAZING – This is our favorite "pig out" meal in NY. We have been several times and have loved the food every time. The room is cramped with tight tables so try to go with four people instead of two. The veal is amazing as is all the free food they bring you to start.

Great food. Worth the wait, although the waiters are a bit quick, trying to get you in and out.

Great food, tight squeeze – The place is a madhouse of frenzy. Tables are packed together in this small space and the noise level is almost deafening. The quality of the food is superb; you wont get better Italian. Before you order anything, about 5 dishes of food are brought to the table. Very expensive but the service is very friendly and knowledgeable. You must have reservations or forget it. Try the dover sole, huge veal chop or sea bass.
