Many New Yorkers believe Il Mulino restaurant, nestled in Greenwich Village, has the finest classic Italian cuisine in New York City. As a result, reservations can be very hard to come by, but it is often much easier to snag a table at lunch. A meal at Il Mulino can be quite expensive, but portions are definitely on the large side. The service is of course professional and attentive, and the decor is classy and subdued.

Be Prepared to Wait – Although it says make a reservation and confirm, it's only a mere formality. When you get to the restaurant be prepared to wait. The maitre'd was quite rude and didn't acknowledge our presence. I had a reservation for 8:30 and didn't get seated until 9:30. Once seated the food was excellent - the porcini mushrroms and the lamb were superb. If you plan on going to Il Mulino grab a snack before you go because you will be waiting.
Way past its prime – At one time this was one of the premier Italian resturants, no more, the food is average, service is horrendous, its crowded, overpriced and it needs to be completely refurbished . This is truly the most overhyped resturant in new york
Il Disappointing – Although the food was great, it wasn't worth the headache. We waited almost two hours for a table (and we had a reservation), they screwed up our bill twice, and they couldn't have cared less. If you're willing to be treated like crap for the opportunity to hand over a few hundred bucks, more power to you. My advice - find a great neighborhood Italian spot, order twice as much to drink as you would at Il Mulino for half the price, and laugh all the way home at the poor suckers still waiting to be seated.
The best Italian food – I came there with my boyfriend on Tues and had a great time. The food was the best Italian food I have ever had and it was well worth the price. The staff was great friendly and funny. Make sure that you save space to eat you will want to try everything. I cant wait to go there again.
SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!!! – Absolutely fantastic food!!! Nothing to compare it to....and I have eaten at them all.
Excellent Experience – Our group of four dined at Il Mulino and had a wonderful experience. We did not have to wait at all for our table. Service was amazing - all kinds of wonderful (free) food to start. Quite small interior, however, we sat at a table and it felt quite private. Menu is a bit difficult to decipher, but the waiters are extremely helpful and will answer any question. We each had an appetizer, pasta dish, entree and desert as well as a few moderately priced bottles of wine ($50 range) each a recommendation - q... read more
The Best True Italian food!!!! – I used to live in Italy for three years, and i know what is real true Italian food is. I am so glad that i found this place. They have wonderful service, every waiters are very friendly and helpful. The wine lists are great, and the Food is amazing!! The reservation is pretty hard to get, but try to call them around 10am, and you could probably get a reservation within 2-3 weeks. I also visit Il mulino in Las vegas. It was another amazing night as well. Anybody looking for true Italian food? ... read more
My favorite NYC restaurant – I go here any time I have a special occasion, it is the most amazing dining experience. The menu is confusing but just tell them what you want and they will make it and believe me, the flavors are the most brilliant and savory that I have ever tasted. A true italian gem!
Rude service, high price. – The horrible service ruined the whole night for us. We felt pressured and uncomfortable. When we sat down, they kept pressuring us to order wine despite our not wanting to. Waiters kept whispering to each other and repeatedly coming over to suggest that we order wine. There were many rude displays throughout the night. Five staff members stared at us throughout the meal. The portions were large so we asked to take some food home, in separate bags. It was brought in the same bag. I asked the captai... read more
