About this business
History: Our family's Sussex County agricultural heritage dates back to 1910, when Jacob Tanis Sr. bought his first Sussex County Farm. Having immigrated from Holland in the 1890's, the Tanis family initially settled in Paterson, NJ. Young Jacob got into the dairy business by selling extra milk from the family cow. He began looking for land and came to Sussex County. It wasn't long before the Tanis family established one of the world record dairyherds. Tomato plants, flowers, everything! Every plant I bought from Ideal has flourished!
We love Ideal Farms. Have been buying all our gardening needs there for years.. They have the most beautiful flowers and vegetables. Love the gift shop also. It's a great place to go and find peace and beauty. Love the farm animals also. Bring your kids also. Lots to see!
My 92 year old father told me the day before Thanksgiving that he would like to have a cherry pie with Thanksgiving dinner. I called a few places and no one would take an order. (I figured that would be the case...short notice). Then I called ideal Farms and my luck changed. The lovely woman on the other end of the phone said that she would happily make up a cherry pie for me right away. I just went and picked it up. It looks fabulous. Ideal Farms absolutely made my day and my Dad will be very happy with that pie!

Best pumpkin picking in Sussex County for the 5 and under age group. Clean, fun and nice people.
This is a very nice place to bring the family pumpkin picking, grab some cider, have a bit of wine tasting and nibble on some sweets. Everyone was very pleasant!
