Business response:
Thanks for taking the time to give us 5 Stars, Diana!
Got there at 5 anticipating a long wait time to be seated. We were given an estimated wait time of 1 hour and didn’t end up getting seated until after 7:00, over 2 hours after we got there and well past our estimated wait time. We grabbed some drinks at the bar, they were good but were extremely small for the price. The food was probably the only reason this isn’t a negative review. The fajitas definitely hit the spot.
The coconut shrimp and burgers are super delicious! Haven’t been able to find coconut shrimp and sauce like South Padre Island till I went here. Only downside was the seating and waiting arrangements. You can walk to the bar area and seat yourself which they didn’t tell us.
The hostess flat out lie over the phone about the wait? We called while sitting in the parking lot and she said 20 min. Literally 3 min later and it's 60-90 min? Really?!
Obviously once a Hawaiian-style spin-off of Chuy’s TexMex, Hula Hut is the place to go in Austin for casual “Baja” fusion. Mixing spicy pork with pineapple. Okay. What could go wrong with that, right? But who’d a thunk to put pineapple in the Salsa Fresca? It works and it’s delicious. But don’t skimp on your ‘Rita or Texas ‘Tini. There’s a reason why top shelf tequila costs more, and it’s definitely worth it.

Michael, Thanks for letting us know your thoughts about the Hula Hut. We are very proud of our Salsa and you are right, there is a hint of pineapple. Come back soon.
