Since when is ketchup a chumichurri sauce? – First I would like to state I am a huge supporter of my neighborhood eateries! I went there with my husband, my best friend and her daughter to celebrate (prom). $10 valet is a rip off when at Cova down the street it is free... after we pay valet hostess ask do we have a reservation --- no we did not but she says give me 5 minutes let me see if something is available. Well the place was pretty empty and we get a seat inside. Now for food, my husband is a big fan of chumichuri sauc... read more
Fancy waste of time – My wife and a friend had a very bad experience there. We will never go there again and will never recommend it to anyone. The ambiance is good. The service, food, cleanliness, parking and regulations are bad. We went there for Lunch on Sunday afternoon. The sun was out and we were going to the park afterward. We approached the door and requested a table for 3. The place was fairly empty, however well staffed. Before entering the hostess forced me to remove my Yankees baseball cap. My hair was a mess and... read more
Lazy service – Me and a couple of girlfriends went to the hudson cafe on a Sunday evening. After we were sat on the red couches waiting to be serviced no one ever showed up, we had to hunt down someone to wait on us. after waiting what seemed like hours a waiter tended to us. but not before we complained to the manager about the service that we were NOT getting. The manager ended up giving us free drinks and we ordered the lobster quesadillas (dee-lish) by the way. I guess that made the situation a little better. I am taking... read more
Save your money!! – Amateur service, bad lighting, lackluster presentation and a hefty bill. Last evening was my fist time at Hudson Cafe, I chose the Porker Chops at as my main course. Considering I am not a professional butcher and unlike my Father on Easter Sundays past, I was not provided with an electric life, I found it almost impossible to cut into the two oversized and overcooked pieces or pork. Since the table itself was wobbling and I needed to use such force with my cutlery, the glasses of wine and sparkling water... read more
The best paella I've ever had!!! – I have been to many a restaurant hunting for a really good paella, and The Hudson River Cafe definitely nailed it over the top! From the presentation to the extravagant portion, this dish is unbelievably delicious. There is a generous mix of lobster, mussels, shrimps, clams, scallops like no other paella. The dish was enough for two, but it was so tasty that I ate it all before my boyfriend could get more than one or two spoonfuls. He enjoyed the pork chops which he also raved was delicious... read more
Finally!! – I have lived uptown for years, and whenever my wife and I wanted a great meal with a nice bottle of wine we were forced to get in a cab and head down to the upper west side. That was until now!! We found a great restaurant uptown on 133rd Street and twelfth avenue. The Menu had a lot of items to choose from--especially seafood, of which I think im an expert. We happened to go on a monday night and were pleasantly surprised to find a three course prefixe for $19.95!! I had the Salmon with a horseradish crust--Deli... read more
Satisfied customer – Ok where do I start? It was just great from a to z; from the cute boy who served me to the all around friendly staff. First I got a great banquet, then I got to look at the cutie serving me which well ladies and gentlemen was absolutely delicious eye candy. We followed by ordering their Lobster and Crab fondue - creamy heaven (served with flames and all) and their Wild Salmon 3 ways (smoked, ceviche, tartar). Not a fan of the smoked salmon, but the other 2 were tasty. We of course got a bottle of prosecc... read more
Atrocious! – I took a friend from out of town for brunch here. The service was absolutely terrible. Not only did the waiter pay less than sufficient attention to us, but we had to go FIND our own menus and basically hunt down someone to get us condiments! We asked for pepper and salt - TWENTY MINUTES later the waiter comes back with two pepper shakers and walks away. My order was wrong, so I had to send it back to the kitchen. My friend's order was not anything like it was described on the menu. The atmosphere was decent - n... read more
Great Place, Customer Service & Drinks – When writing a review for a restaurant, it is important to remember to write about the food and/or drinks, atmosphere, personal attention and overall cleanliness. With that said, the Hudson River Cafe is a bustling environment, ideal for after hour cocktails and a good time with friends. I arrived with my friend for drinks at 7 PM. We sat at the bar, and promptly ordered two Malibu with pineapple cocktails. The drinks, made by a quiet but friendly bartender, were prepared in front of ... read more
