We had a very enjoyable 14 months at Hudson House as residents. The building is very secure and well looked after, and our views were stunning! We could see Mt Baker and then also the Cascade Mountains, not to mention the sea, as we were high up and had an L shaped deck. The building itself is concrete and steel and as a result, you could not hear your neighbours on the floor, or above or below. Loved that! I loved this building very much. The building management and upkeep were the best I have experienced in a rental building. Paolo, the building manager and the maintenance and cleaning staff provided excellent service. When I had my dog there, the 2 dog areas were invaluable especially when my dog went through health issues and I had to take him to these secure areas in the middle of the night. The views are amazing. Overall if you are looking for a downtown apartment location I would recommend Hudson House.
I want to be fair here — the building itself is beautiful, the amenities are great, the views are stunning, and the location in downtown Victoria is excellent. The maintenance staff are responsive and helpful. I also had positive experiences with Paolo (the Property and Leasing Manager) — he was generally professional and responsive when he became involved. Very negative experience with management. This person seems to be new. Laurel Terry, is someone who is very authoritarian. Treats tenants in a way that is dehumanising, and shows no compassion for someone who is suffering. She has proven to be very dishonest. I do not recommend staying here. Also, the building should have had three elevators, not two. It's a major design flaw. The fact that there is constant turnover.
