History Established in 2007. Flat Rock's only general store, Peace's Grocery, located at the intersection of W. Blue Ridge Road and Hwy 225, closed in the 1980s after nearly 100 years. The closure left a void in the community. The building sat vacant for several years until Starr Teel and Virginia Spiegner, reopened the store in 1990. Virginia opened her store, The Wrinkled Egg, and Starr began baking in the back room of the store. This area now houses the Flat Rock Village Bakery, another fine addition to the area of town ... read more

Awesome food! Pulled smoked chicken, pimento cheese grits, and an amazing side salad of kale, roasted beets, white beans, avocado topped with roasted quinoa and in an orange vinaigrette that was absolutely THE best ever! Hubby had pulled pork, fresh made succotash & deviled eggs and gave a thumbs up on all. Top the great food off with a quirky outdoor dining area and a trio of unique chickens walking around & Led Zeppelin music playing thru the speakers. What a great stop :-)
Best BBQ around, amazing staff, beautiful location!
Best BBQ ever. A little hole in the wall but it’s a gem‼️
After hiking in Flat Rock we came across this quaint area of businesses. The food was fantastic!! Best pulled chicken bbq and slaw I've had! We loved the atmosphere and the heated room was perfect on this cool day!
Nice place tucked away in Historic Flatrock NC. Pork platter and chicken platters were hubba hubba yum yum. Picture perfect fall Halloween day 2018. Roosters and hens came by and said hi.
Absolutely love this spot. Not too far from Hendersonville and very close to the Carl Sandburg State Park which is also really worth a visit. I live in Florida and don’t get up this way that often but when I do I make sure I go out of my way to come here for lunch. The brisket is fantastic, service is great and the place is charming!
Great food good times luv hubba hubba
We were traveling home to SC from TN and came across this awesome little row of shops and restaurants. The menu was creative, more than just BBQ. Pulled pork and sauce was great, sides were great, and the non BBQ options were nice too. There was enough for me to take home and have a second meal. The cozy little outdoor seating area was great with lots of shade. The service was great and everyone was friendly. We will drive 2 hours to come back!
NOT KID FRIENDLY! The female waitress was very nice. The food was ok over priced for the quality and amount. The meat was a little dry. Tourist trap. The owner was mean. He has a kids area with chalk and everytime our kids would play he would go get onto them and tell them they were to loud. He was up in the face of a 6 year little boy that didn't belong to him. Thank goodness it was not my son. One we are outside two you have a kids area you dont wont them to play dont offer it. The kids age range from 6 to 8 years old. We ... read more
