History Established in 2007. Flat Rock's only general store, Peace's Grocery, located at the intersection of W. Blue Ridge Road and Hwy 225, closed in the 1980s after nearly 100 years. The closure left a void in the community. The building sat vacant for several years until Starr Teel and Virginia Spiegner, reopened the store in 1990. Virginia opened her store, The Wrinkled Egg, and Starr began baking in the back room of the store. We were looking for a place in Hendersonville to take care of Keto friendly husbands, hungry kids and a mom with food allergies... Unfortunately we were quite disappointed that the only dressing for the salad was ranch, the sides were INCREDIBLY small; served in ramkins; and not much in options to offer someone who cannot have meat or dairy. We loved the pulled pork sandwiches. The side dishes were also very tasty. We will definitely come here again.
Tried the brisket and pork sliders with the smoked cherry BBQ sauce. I liked it so much that I bought a pint of the sauce. Good food. My wife had the huge grilled pimento cheese sandwich. Colorful outdoor seating.
Great BBQ. Quaint, country/mountain atmosphere. Outside dining. Part of our annual trip to Flat Rock including Sky Top Orchard. Fun tradition. Pregnant and 1 yr later.
What a fantastic place! We had delicious meals and it was even better that the cook is a St Louis Cardinal baseball fan! Go Redbirds!
