This was an incredibly frustrating experience. Like others who have reviewed recently, I too wish I had read these reviews before choosing this company but it wouldn't have mattered much because HR Block put most of the independent tax preparers in DC out of business already leaving very few options: I could have filed by myself or paid premium prices. They take your tax documents and promise to do your return then never call you back and close down their phone lines. Nobody answers the phones and you have no way of getting in touch with the tax professional you were working with. Highly unprofessional.

I purchased the premium software from H&R Block website for business taxes. installed the software and did my business taxes with great difficulty ( small business single owner business tax return) . the program continuously gives errors after audit but it does not offer any guidance or help in resolving the error. Finally finished the return and e-filed with ***. when I attempted to open the program to check the e-file status the program crashed. My friend recommended that I try using H&R for my taxes this year. A mistake I won't be repeating. I'm giving it two stars because my federal taxes actually went through. My state tax filing was rejected, however. The explanation for rejection offered by the site didn't match with the data on the form. There was a different error that the site wouldn't let me change, just kept sending me in circles. DO *** FILE YOUR TAXES ONLINE WITH HR BLOCK!!!!!!I had a horrible experience with the online service. ******* ********* , made up that I owned two companies when in fact they were two vendors who paid me for services using a 1099 form. How can you make a mistake like that ? Then she will get online late at night and would respond to one of my emails , when I responded right away , she will not respond .I have used HR block for over ten years with great experiences. H&R Block fraudulently claims ******** 8962 is required to file taxes in 2021. It forces users to use the premium version to file this form, however on the subsequent screen acknowledges the form is not required in 2021 due to the ********************. Having automatically added its premium version to a consumers cart however, it will not provide the ability to remove that item and forces free users to pay for premium which it acknowledges is not necessary. I was looking for a tax preparer that would be cheaper than the one i had been using for years. When i called *** they said it would be $160. That was less than what my current tax preparer was charging so i decided to use *** at ***************************************************. I filed my taxes at your store (1735 first ave, ********, **) at the end of march. The first tax person I worked with in that store suddenly left for an extended vacation without informing me (I only found out when returning to the office to finish my returns.)
