Decent food, angry service – We went for dim sum and here were the highlights. Yes, we got some tasty food right away but our vegetarian friends had few options with dim and requested a menu. They were told to ask the waiter. When he finally came by, he flung the menu at my friend then stormed off. We eventually were able to flag him down once again to have him take our order. After being ignored by the staff for about 1/2 hour after we finished our food, my husband took the bill up front to pay. Our waiter began yelling at ... read more
Very Good Dim Sum – Very good Dim Sum. Service is slow but the food is very good. Good size parking lot but is always busy. Depending on the time you arrive, you might have to do street side parking nearby. However, the restaurant is large and there is almost never a wait for a table. I highly recommend House Of Hong for Dim Sum. Because the place is so large, they will usually not mind if you hang around at your table after a good meal and talk away with friends and family for an hour ot two.
Terrible service, mediocre food - eat here only if you want a horrible stomach ache. – I had high hopes for this place, however, I was very disappointed. First off, the service was horrible. It took the waiter 20 minutes to take our order and bring water, and another 30 minutes to get our food. I could understand slow service if the restaurant was busy, but there were only 4 other tables with patrons. Those tables did not have to wait for service, yet we were ignored. The food was mediocre at best, and overpriced. Plus, Hous... read more
large selection of fresh, tasty dim sum – My family was visiting from out of town and they'd never had dim sum before, so I took them to House of Hong. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it! Picking out your food from the passing carts is fun, although it can get a little chaotic, especially if you're not very familiar with the different varieties of dim sum and can't immediately tell if the stuff on the cart that's passing by your table is something you've just had, or something different. All the food was good, and my parents, wh... read more
Extremely dissapointing – We went to the ID hoping to get some good Chinese and ended up at the House of Hong. What a waste of money - we could've eaten better at Panda Express. The service was horrible and I knew the food was going to be bad when I noticed the frozen peas and cubed carrots at the bottom of our tepid non-sizzling rice soup. When I asked for Kung Pao prawns instead of chicken or squid the rattled waitress said "I don't think we can do that".... okay, thanks for asking.... The funniest part of the evening was ... read more
Poor service and equally poor food quality – This restaurant is nothing like it once was. I have been coming to House of Hong for 20 years and I can't believe how it has changed. The servers can be rude, the food quality has slipped and the inside decor is like a big banquet room with no warmth. Too bad, as it used to a great spot to go have lunch or dinner. I wonder if there are new owners here as the faces at the cash register are not the same.
Daily dim sum and a long list of Cantonese favorites at this International District institution. – In Short Downtown workers, sports fans and neighborhood residents frequent this legendary spot for all-day dim sum, served from carts in the traditional fashion. The cavernous main room has plenty of tables and light streaming in from skylights; its atmosphere comes from the Asian-inspired decor, including massive golden dragons and a wall-length mural of the Great Wall. At dinnertime, the dim sum carts give way to table servic... read more
House of Wrong – I've just been there once with a friend. We were both hungry and when our food came we could barely eat any of it. All we could do is laugh about how bad it was. Now this place is a running joke when the question of where to eat comes up. Didn't have the Din Sum.... so I can't comment on that.
food ok - service BAD – I spend a lot of time in Mainland China - I know C food and this is just ok with very bad service. . . time to find a "new" Sunday morning hot spot that cares about customers.
