We live less than 20 minutes away and finally took the family here today. Our tour guide was excellent. The house and grounds are beautiful and full of history. I got to sit on a chair once owned by James K Polk. I recommend the tour especially to other locals interested in Ascension Parish history.
I was hoping to see the slave quarters but they were long gone. Miss Webbie was a great tour guide.
Great historic place to visit and learn about southern life and traditions.
The grounds were beautiful, the restaurant was delicious.
