More than just a 'hot dog' place... While 'encased meats' doesn't sound "sexy" enough, it is what this place offers... scrumptious, sometimes exotic, out-of-this-world encased meats, sausages and yes -- hot dogs! If on the menu, try the foie gras and duck sauternes saugage with truffle aioli -- While the presentation colors of the dish are quite bland, I can assure you, the taste, is not!

I was feeling down at work today, had a family member pass. But you know your fat when the first thing someone says are you upset that Hot Dougs is closing. Then I stared crying I didn't know hot dougs is closing...

You can't close yet! It's been on my to-do list for YEARS to get to your restaurant, but have not had the opportunity yet! I think Taylor Piercefield has it right: Think of the children! Pass the torch to someone worthy of carrying on the name and tradition of Hot Doug's, instead of shutting it down!
Hot Dougs is the best place to enjoy encased meats in the city. I'll be making it back to Chicago for Hot Dougs a couple times before closing. Definitely the last day, it will be a pilgrimage to drive the 300 miles. And totally worth it.
There is no place like it.
I love Hot Doug's. Only the finest encased meats were presented, in all manner of exciting ways. I'm sorry you're closing, Doug, but wish you all the best in the future!
