RecommendedI am going on my second year living in Holton's Town and Country properties. Maintenance is always addressed reasonably, staff is so accommodating and kind, and properties in my experience have been very well kept. I have rented through other companies in Boone and had awful experiences, but Holton is definitely the way to go.
Moving my daughter from Green Mountain Apartments today, every bottom floor has mold in it. It has ruined clothes and I am sure caused health issues for some. After speaking with some of these young adults seems it has been reported but no action taken.
My daughter and her two roomies are students at App State. We pay our rent on the 1st day of every month... They haven’t had AC for the past 3 weeks and it won’t be repaired for at least another week or more. This is unacceptable!! Spoke to Holton Mtn mgr and she gave me the company line....”it’s in the contract” I would NOT recommend this outfit for a rental for my student.
They are crooks who prey on parents of collage kids. They know that they will pay to keep their kids happy. But If you are a native of Watauga co and full time employee they treat you like you shouldn't be here.
Lived with Holton for a year and absolutely loved it. The administration was always nice and maintenance came anytime I needed them within the hour of making a request. If I hadn’t of graduated, I would spend another year with them.

Holton Mountain Rentals is the worst rental company I've experienced in Boone. They had a random old guy(not a certified security guard or officer) walking around each and every apartment at all hours of the day and night just to report anyone breaking the smallest of rules. It made me incredibly uncomfortable and when I asked them about him they denied it even though he admitted to me what he was there for... Horrible customer service. Charge you for everything and are in it for the money. Called to get our broken toilet fixed, plumber came, flushed it 10 times and left then we were hit with a $50 bill for NOTHING.
