The Hippodrome Theatre is the centerpiece of theFrance-Merrick Performing Arts Center, holding all of the center's shows. Located just three blocks away from the University of Maryland, this performing arts theater is a true gem of the city. This Vaudeville theater was built in 1914 and designed by Thomas White Lamb, one of the most prominent theater architects of his time. Over the years the theater went through various transformations, from a movie theater to a performing arts venue that it is today.

We love seeing the show and the dancers, beautiful. However, it is a Baltimore crowd. Noisy, talking, opening candy wrappers. People in Baltimore have no class for shows or venues such as this. Baltimorians are embarrassing.
Went to see the Nutcracker. The costumes have to be the best I have ever seen and the whole was spellbinding. i was disappointed that the theater foyer wasn't decorated with Nutcrackers and I thought it would have more Christmas decorations
Last night, I saw the production of the Russian Nutcracker. The costumes were the best thing about this production,. Just amazing. The orchestra was amplified for some strange reason, and badly so. The mike must have been on the piccolo player's nostrils, and wow, it was annoying. I actually had to cover my ears at one point. And we were in the balcony. There's really no need for that.
Planning to go to more shows there with my family and friends
Family of 4 went to see A Christmas Story - the Musical. It was awesome. Definitely a family treat. The singing, the dancing and the kids were awesome! Pre-paid parking across the street, it worked out well ($16). Sat RMBALC, middle of Row F, perfect seats. Bathroom right outside the door. Didn't use the bar, or coat check. Had eTickets, so getting in a breeze. Enjoy!
