The Hippodrome Theatre is the centerpiece of theFrance-Merrick Performing Arts Center, holding all of the center's shows. Located just three blocks away from the University of Maryland, this performing arts theater is a true gem of the city. This Vaudeville theater was built in 1914 and designed by Thomas White Lamb, one of the most prominent theater architects of his time. Over the years the theater went through various transformations, from a movie theater to a performing arts venue that it is today.

My brother and I watched Gentleman's Guide last night last night. We had a blast! The show was amazing, the seats were perfectly placed, and the hidden treasure trove of artwork on the second level was breath taking. I can't wait for the next show!
As a music director/pianist who has performed many Broadway shows for local and regional theater I immensely enjoyed seeing "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" performed so precisely and lithely and comedically in such a beautiful old theater. The cast was perfectly assembled for the task of performing this upbeat brightly lit dark humor comedy that certainly tips it theatrical hat to some clever G&S patter as well as some J. Strauss and his flying mouse! ;). Would love to do this musical myself!
What an awesome event to share with my husband on New Years Eve. The production of A Gentleman's guide to Love & Murder was funny, entertaining & just plain fun to attend. So glad we did something different this year. Enjoyed lunch at the Hippa Deli before the show & that too was great.
