The Hippodrome Theatre is the centerpiece of theFrance-Merrick Performing Arts Center, holding all of the center's shows. Located just three blocks away from the University of Maryland, this performing arts theater is a true gem of the city. This Vaudeville theater was built in 1914 and designed by Thomas White Lamb, one of the most prominent theater architects of his time. Over the years the theater went through various transformations, from a movie theater to a performing arts venue that it is today.

Love this place,,I lived close to nyc, the Hippodrome, he's something NYC theater district just never had, it a feeling of warmth from every employee there, just not a cold (like there herding cattle not real people) feeling, I've seen Wicked, Celtic Women, War Horse, Beautiful, and a handful more shows, I take the Hippodrome over NYC any day of the week......

Once again this year as season ticket holders, we are having the time of our lives! The shows are excellent, the talent is extraordinary! The staff is corteous, helpful, and wonderful. We always make a reservation at the Hipp Cafe before the show. The staff there is remarkable! I thought the days of "service with a smile" were gone. The staff members do all they can to accommodate each and every patron. We look forward to many more seasons at the Hippodrome! ��
The performance of Beautiful was so entertaining! The cast was superb! The seats way too tight! Uncomfortable seating is a big negative.
The ushers were very professional & helpful. The facility looks wonderful. Comfortable seating. The sound was Xcellent; no issues, could clearly hear the actors & actresses dialogue with no difficulty. The show was tremendous, music beautiful & catchy. I look 4ward 2 returning as a guest & even as a performer, someday. BT
