The Himalaya Restaurant the food really is exceptional and the prices reasonable. First of all, for those culturally sensitive, this is a Pakistani restaurant so the dishes are very similar to Northern Indian cuisine. This means there are lots of goat and lamb choices, biryanis (rice), and kebabs. Try the Gola Kebabs (the most amazingly tender grilled beef) with garlic naan hot out of the oven, washed down with mango lassi, and finish with the Rabri Walli Kheer-an almond rice pudding. Best Indian restaurant I’ve been to in Houston. Butter chicken was awesome and the service was great.
Horrible service… Expect to sit there waiting forever before anyone notices you or tries to take your order. The owner is incredibly rude and defensive about his food, which is mediocre at best. Many other amazing Indian restaurants in the city of Houston where the staff and owner treat the customers with respect. I highly recommend skipping this restaurant and going to a better one.
Had a great meal . Every dish was superb.Looking forward to my next visit. I also had a very nice chat with the owner who was very gracious. I was interested in the visits to his restaurant by Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern and he gave me a lot of insight into both of them as well as how the television segments are filmed.
With the menu being so extensive, we weren't able to put much of a dent in it. Only had Lamb Shank, Chicken Hara Masala, Goat Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, Garlic Naan, Goolab Jooman and Chai. I can honestly say, that outside of Qatar and Bangladesh, this is the best Indian food I've ever eaten. Hands down, no comparison. The depth, combination, and interaction of flavors is outstanding. I thought the food was great as well as the service. Was there to try new food and I left very satisfied. Really enjoyed the idea of sharing a table with strangers. �
I had veggie samosas that were good but almost cold, Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Naan were ok but not as flavorful as India's in Clear Lake. Not a do over for me
