We arrived for our reservation at 8pm. They said they could not find the reservation and they were completely booked. We gave the front desk agent our information and she said it all looked correct but that the system didn't have our reservation. We were there for an hour trying to figure it out. The front desk was not helpful and would just giggle and say how she had never seen anything like this before. It was already a pretty frustrating situation without the added giggles. The door knobs were falling off our doors. The ice machine was out of ice. Both hot tubs were out of order. We couldn’t get checked in until almost 6. We booked the rooms as a family and our key card stopped working but they wouldn’t give us another key because the room wasn’t under our name, so we had to wake up someone from inside the adjoining room to get in our room where our daughter was sleeping. I keep coming back to update as I remember more issues: Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy my stay here. So many missed opportunities. On my first night I went to the patio for a bite at the restaurant. The server didn’t see me and I had to go to him and ask for a menu. Food was bad. The carne asada taco was really dry and not fresh. The margarita tasted like pure sour mix. Had a nice stay at the Hilton Del Mar last Friday night. Everyone was really welcoming and the manager personally came up to us and greeted us. If you’re ever looking for a place to stay in Del Mar, I would highly recommend the Hilton. Especially good if you’re coming down for a show at the Sound and don’t feel like driving home.

Very nice staff, except one lady behind the counter, seemed to be rude to her coworker, but that did not affect us. Beautiful swimming pool area. I was less than impressed with the Cantina restaurant. Food was bland and not a lot of choices. Fairly well stocked bar and good drink choices. Room was large, clean.
