Robert & Donna opened the Hickory Hollow in January 1984. Robert is from Williamston NC & Donna is from the Chesapeake Bay Area, Maryland and son Jarrett & wife Jenelle w/ their 3 kids are continuing the family tradition for many years to come. 2006 we were rated 3rd in the nation in the USA Today. We were here before the Interstate and Outlet Mall. This location used to be a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house. We opened w/ only 32 seats and our bathrooms were located outside. I've been eating at the Hickory Hollow restaurant since 1985 and each time i go i like it better than the time before.
This really is the best place for pork but no one in my family knows what "hickory hollow" is... We call it The Headless Pig.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions I can never order the dinners because I cannot narrow down my choice of vegetables. Should I have Miss Donna's squash and cheese casserole and corn pudding or the yam patties and black eyes??? Problem solved...I have the veggie plate and get all four!!! The BBQ is to die for (thanks to Jarret's wizardry with the sauces!!! Best BBQ in the country...well, I haven't actually tasted ALL the BBQ's in the country...but I bet it's right up there at the top!!! I wish there were more stars in the ratin... read more
Being orginally from Indy, I travelled by business to NC the first time and fell in love with NC BBQ. Had gone without for a long time, until we just moved next door and we are back in heaven. First time for my wife and she loves it! Great veggies too. We think the 8th wonder of the world is right here in Ellenton!
