I gave Hertz zero stars! Why well I rent the car for a vacation. I wash and clean car up before taking back inside and out. Car was cleaner when I took back than when I received it. Get my receipt and leave everything fine. Get my credit card bill in the mail to my surprise they tacked on $500 more to my card for a cleaning fee cause they said the car smelled like smoke. I Rented a Small SUV (Chevy Equinox) from 29 Apr thru 11 May with a Daily rate of $37.89. But was charge $4,756.12. Since 11 may i had been trying to Correct my Car rental bill and for them to refund me over $4K dollars which I had multiples calls with their customer Service and they all agreed that it has been a mistake, then they tell me that I show get my Refund which should be over $4K dollars within 5-7 business days. As a long standing Hertz Gold member (20+ years) I am disappointed that the company's standards seem to be slipping as consistently highlighted by the reviewers listed here. Personal examples have included overcharging for another car when the vehicle booked has not been available, general proliferation in booking errors, missed prep timings or delayed delivery of vehicles, and an appreciable increase in hidden junk fees applied in error. Waited 1.5 hours in line at slc hertz at airport. Then was told car was not available and would hopefully get one in an hour or so. What a joke of a company. Don’t make the mistake of using hertz. Every other car rental place is without a line and getting cars

Dollar/Hertz rented us a flooded vehicle. Provided proof to substantiate claims and reported the damage. Health and safety hazard and they don’t care.

They added a service of roadside assistance to my contract without verbally disclosure. They keep doing it. Gave me a digital version of the contract to sign then, while rush you out because they are short handed. I called supervisors, district manager and branch manager with no success. They refuse to dispute because I signed the contract, even though I showed them the way it is being done leads the customer to get something they don't need or ask for. This was a 2nd try at renting from Hertz and it went worse than my 1st experience, which was not good. The 1st rental experience ended with a lower grade car than I paid for & a flat out refusal via email to reimburse me the $20.00 difference Giving the benefit of the doubt l, I tried again directly renting through Hertz website. Thursday morning and I have to wait an hour in line to get a reserved car. The people behind me are looking at 2 hours. Not enough workers. 2 at the moment. Never again!!!!

I want to express the awful customer service experience I had with Hertz today. I attempted to extend my rental using their mobile app and was charged an amount different than initially quoted. The app stated I would be charged $81.22 - my card was charged $134. There was no itemized receipt highlighting why I had been charged that amount. I spoke to 6 different employees and stopped at a local branch, and no one could explain to me what this discrepancy was about.
