Throughout my life I've had horrible dental experiences... Starting as a young child and continued throughout my life, to include while I was in the military. While I was in the military, I developed teeth/severe gym problems (partly because of military related VA disability but also of my negligence). I'm a retired military flight nurse among and am pretty tough EXCEPT for going to the dentist.
