Herrera's Restaurant - a model for great Mexican Food. Becky, Cindy, and Gil run an absolutely great restaurant - I have been coming here since 1982. Starts with great chips and spicy (but not too hot) salsa, followed by terrific pinto bean soup prior to dinner arrving. I have had some great entrees here - enchiladas, tacos, tamales, nachos, chalupas, or quesadillas. Simply the best! The best Tex-Mex in town - and a Dallas institution! And you'll get so many compliments when you have Herrera's cater your event - social and business. Can't go wrong with enchiladas, nachos, fajitas or tacos...or anything on the menu. PROS: Wonderful, authentic Tex-Mex food. Great catering. CONS:
A Dallas Institution! If you live in Dallas and you have NOT visited Herrera's, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU !?!?! Go and you will be hooked. Yes, it is in a crummy part of town, but really just off the main strip of Maple is not too bad. The food is authentic and wonderful. You simply can not go wrong from Huervos Rancheros to Enchiladas. Tex Mex Heaven I grew up in Dallas and have traveled the country in my career. Hands down favorite Mexican restaurant. Hererras, Dallas, Texas LA, Chicago, Phoenix, Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami, Nashville and even here on our home turf in Houston and San Antonio. New York? Yeah right. Not even close. Nothing beats Hererras my friends. If you read this blog, drive down to order the Primo platter. Enjoy the Pinto Bean soup and the best picante sauce known to man. Unbelievable! Great food Hilary Clinton actually had her Texas primary party there. I had been there before, and although the food is great, it's not in a very good neighborhood and it's very shabby looking, so I was surprised to read that in the paper. Nonetheless, if you work in the area, check it out for lunch. Huge portioins.
