I used to be an employee here so let me tell y’all the run down. Although you had an appointment, be ready to have a LONG WAIT. They are always understaffed FOR A REASON. The way you are seen depends on your insurance, not by appointment. If you self pay or have Medical/PPO you are their priority to be seen first. If you have HMO, be prepared to be seen late. Working as a Technician there. I seen HMOs have an earlier appointment than PPOs and Nina would always tell me “make sure PPOs are Seen first.” Which hurt me to skip so... read more

Dr was great! Receptionist on the other hand... not that great. Rude. Before you come here make sure you are aware of the fact that they charge you as a regular MD's office. They charged me $280 upfront because I didn't meet my yearly "deductible". I have NEVER had an optometrist office use my regular medical insurance. This is just wrong. Especially if its a basic routine eye exam. I have full vision coverage by VSP and it should have been a $10 co-pay with other benefits included. Really disappointing.

Wonderful doctor, but unfortunately extremely rude and incompetent staff in the Lawndale office. I was referred to him after an ER discharge from Torrance Memorial. Dr. Hecht contacted me on the day after my discharge (a Sunday) to talk to me, but I finally spoke to him Tuesday, my appointment day. I paid $225 out of pocket because no one ran the visit through the insurance provider. I had to have a letter specifying limitations at work.
