Visited all the feed stores in my area. Hawthorne is now my feed store. Also the fact that they close at 6 pm while the others close at 5 makes it very convenient for me to go after work.
This place should be shut down for animal abuse. I've never seen so many chickens treated so poorly outside of a factory farm. Riddled with mites, overcrowded, no water, it's disgusting. The employees have no clue what they're doing and pass you off to each other to avoid any responsibility, and you end up just doing everything yourself. My first time visiting a few days ago! So so impressed with this family run business. The young men running the store were friendly and knowledgeable and passionate about chickens! My new favorite place! I will definitely be back in to buy my feed and hemp bedding. And maybe more baby chicks, because chicken math.
Fantastic selection!! Plus outstanding customer service!!!
They offer classes for cheese making, anything involving canning, and fiber arts. Oh and wide selection of dog food. Lowest prices I’ve seen in San Diego county. They even beat chewys prices!!!
Super friendly and have just about anything you could need for your chicken (and other farm pet) needs!

Just left Hawthorne Country Store and the family member “in charge”; can’t remember his name.....maybe Jacob, anyways...he was completely rude from the moment we walked in as a family....ya my kids sat and rocked in the rocking chair....who cares? I used to work here years ago and we rescued a pig from here a year ago...and I say that sarcastically.....I’ve purchased feed, meds and a TON of Pendleton flannels from here....no mas! Grow up kid!
