Little Tokyo Gem This Little Tokyo gem is unlike most Japanese restaurants in their fare. It's not a noodle house, nor is it strictly sushi. Instead Haru Ulala offers a wide range of delicious small plates from mushrooms to fish to chicken. If you're somewhat adventurous it's definitely worth checking out. It's also worth checking out for its sushi. We only had the spicy tuna roll, but that was amazing. The only downside was the service. What is it with Los Angeles restaurants and their inexplicably slow service?
Delicious Japanese Small Plates This is literally my favorite restaurant in town. Yes, sure, they make the best spicy tuna roll in town. But if you like good Japanese tavern food, this is the place. They've got a great sake selection- not premium, but affordable and delicious- beer on draft, and cocktails. Some menu stand outs: Japanese peppers stuffed with spicy tuna and deep fried, Braised short rib with radish, Grilled Yellow Tail Collar.
