RecommendedWe were looking for somewhere with good comfort food after a long and exhausting day of walking in the DC heat. We looked for a casual place with good food and Google suggested Hard Times Cafe. We have two kids so didn't want a bar per se but it was late on a Monday night. From the second we walked in, we felt like regulars. The food was wonderful and the service was amazing. The chili sampler was fabulous and dinner was a perfect ending to a very tiring day. Thanks so much!

This place was amazing! We came there really late, within 30 minutes of closing and everyone from the hostess to our waitress was excellent. We had an older lady serving us and she was just amazing. She joked around with our daughter and made us feel like we were at home with family. We recently moved to the area and wanted to try some of the local restaurants and this was our very first one. Loved it! Highly recommended.
The food was awesome! Loved the samples of chili to help you decide what was right for you. Our server was a funny and friendly woman (unfortunately, I can’t remember her name) she did a wonderful job! After a long day of walking this place felt like home. We stopped in on a whim and are so glad we did! If you like a down-home country style cafe with good chili, you’ll love this place.
