Open in the Rush Street bar district since the 1970s, Hangge-Uppe's patrons visit here to "let it all hang out." The drink of choice seems to be beer, either in a bottle or a pint glass. The atmosphere is a strange mix of sports bar and dance club. The music is characteristically rock and roll, and the decor, old movie posters and a mosh of thrift store junk, might remind you of a frat house gone public.

Bouncer refused my entry. For absolutely no reason. When I asked for an explanation I was told "we have the right to refuse service to anyone we choose" Then tried to intimidate me by saying "im a stone" pointing to his tattoo. What establishment prides themselves by hiring "gang bangers' to work the front door??? Unprofessional, and absolutely not what it used to be.
Love this bar! Whenever were in Chicago we always come here. Great music, always a fun time.
This bar is great! They managed to accommodate my huge, unexpected group after the bar we'd negotiated with screwed us over. We ended up having a wonderful evening with good dancing and drinks. The $5 shot is definitely half a shot, but for a light drinker like me, that's honestly a feature rather than a drawback--it made it a lot easier to buy lots of people drinks without getting trashed myself.
