Gulf Island Grill is one of my favorite places on the beach. I love the shrimp skewers. Our waiter was "Johnny on the spot". Very helpful and checked on us several times.
Had high hopes but was very let down. We arrived and waited for at least 30 minutes with several other parties. The whole time there was at least 5-6 empty tables. We ordered our drinks and appetizer. Drinks arrived quickly and appetizer in about 10 minutes. However, the waitress never returned to take our main course order until about 20-25 minutes after our drink. It has been another half hour since that and still we have not received our main course. Food was good, and prices are comparable. Service was very lacking. Had to ask another waitress for refills and we ordered the kids hamburgers but received cheeseburgers. Our kids do not eat cheese so we had to send the food back. Cheese was scraped off and the patty was flipped. 😐 The steamed shrimp and snow crabs were great. I just wish we had better service especially considering the place was not busy when we visited.
