A cross between a dressed up deli and a fancy Starbucks, this convenient bistro is operated by the Savannah College of Art and Design. Occupying the site of a longtime Savannah institution, Solomon's Drug Store, the meticulously updated property offers a dozen varieties of tea and as many of coffee, in addition to sandwiches, soups, salads and a delectable assortment of fresh-baked pastries. Prepare to wait a bit longer than normal if you come in the late afternoon, as traditional tea service is practiced between 4pm and 6pm... read more

A beautiful building with wonderful tea sandwiches, scones, pastries, and tea! We loved it!
We popped in (actually because we had to use the restroom) and sat at the bar. The woman who served us was externally knowledgeable about the history of the building. She was friendly and provided excellent service. We only stayed for one drink each, which were delicious and very refreshing on a hot day. Thank you for adding to our Savannah experience- we will be back.
The prosciutto, fig, and pear sandwich was amazing! Love to get the girls together for afternoon tea!
We had an absolutely fabulous lunch with great service today, after walking around Savannah.
We had a party of six and were seated and served fairly quickly. Beverages and macarons were very good. Unfortunately, we found out that we, and everyone who visited the first week of January, were exposed to Hepatitis A due to one of the staff having an infection. It’s a must for people visiting Savannah. Embedded into the city’s historical fabric the Gryphon is much more than just a restaurant is an experience surrounded by historic events that have shaped Savannah into what it is now. Try their Chefs’s and Baker’s specials.
On the whole I do recommend Gryphon. My only gripe with my last visit was when I told the server that he had bought us different tea for our second pot, he made no attempt to make a corrective action.
Tasty food and delicious tea, always with great service. However, it's always so cold in there by the time my meal arrives not only is the food cold but the a.c. is set so low my companions and I are too cold to really enjoy the meal. This happens summer and winter. Cozy setting, maybe they keep it cold so you will but a pot of hot tea?
The atmosphere is beautiful with so much original architecture and fixtures from Solomon’s Apothecary. Our server told us the history of the building. It was very interesting and informative. Great food and tea. The scones are to die for!!! Must have with Devonshire cream and strawberry jam. Delicious!
