Grotta Azzurra

4.2

About this business

With legends like Frank Sinatra and Robert De Niro having frequented this place, Grotta has always been one of the most popular Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. The 'Blue Grotto' disappeared for six years since its opening over a century ago, however it reopened with renewed vigor again to much fanfare. The multi-level eatery still retains some historic features like the marble and mosaic floors; and its vintage mahogany bar and wine cave stack about 1,600 bottles.

Ate here recently on our trip to NYC in Dec 2016. We were looking for a different restaurant in Little Italy, but got tired of walking and decided to eat here and it was the BEST decision ever. Amazing garlic bread, mixed greens salad, Spaghetti Bologanese and Creme Brulee. If ever in NYC again will be eating here :)

Its nostalgic for me. My grandfather owned it 80 years ago. Decor is nice. The waiter was great. The food was just average.

The bread was cold da server was hella rude like my fam and I are the type to just keep our mouths shut if something is wack but nah the server was probs the rudest guy I have ever met and trust I've met my fair share of rude ... read more
