Told me 'my symptoms don't matter to doctors'
HE put me in the hospital for 4 days on infusions of DHE because he doesn't even know about migraine treatments. These drugs could have caused a heart attack. I am 75 years old. He didn't recommend any of the new treatments. He told me he is not a specialist on migraine.
Original visit very positive, friendly. He is very confident. After examining my history he said “ there is nothing more I can do.” Then he suggested 4-5 days of infusions of a very old drug. After 4 days isolated on monitors and shots every 8 hours my headache returned. He came in, declared my treatment a failure and I could go home. “I am not a headache specialist,” he said. “ you need to go to a migraine specialist.”Then he said “ I will leave you to grieve.” Then he walked out the back door of hospital. An exceptionally nice and polite gentleman. He takes care of his patients with pride. And of course, he knows precisely what he is doing. He is truly the jewel in the crown.
My experience with Dr De La Motte was exceptionally positive. At my first visit, he was not rushed, he had reviewed my history, asked questions. He listened to my answered and responded with more questions. Every visit was the same, not rushed, he is a good listener and very respectful of my concerns. I was in complete agreement with Dr De La Motte’s treatment for my condition. I respect and trust his opinions and recommendations.
Dr De La Motte, saw my mom last week. I was impressed. He came in prepared; read all of mom's medical history, listened to my mom and I, then did SEVERAL evaluations during the visit. He confirmed mom's diagnosis and treatment plan. *** AND found something really important other doctors had overlooked. *** Mom's health is better due to this man's thorough, accurate evaluation, diagnosis and updated plan for treatment. I saw Dr De Ka Motte in Arroyo Grande CA. He was impatient and not interested in listening to me or scheduling another visit. If I could give him a lower rating than 1, I would. Terrible. Do not recommend!
