Understaffed and underappreciated. Nurse workload is not worth the pay. Not safe staffing ratios.
Poor care due to being understaffed. The nurses and aids were very nice and friendly they just didn’t have time to do everything they had to do. When my father was discharged nobody told us how to take care of his Foley catheter, I had to beg somebody to show me how to change the bag, I didn’t know anything about how to clean it out etc. I had to look up a YouTube video on that because I am not a nurse and I had no idea how to take care of a catheter.
RecommendedThe staff and the facility are amazing. For the last 10 years or so, my Mom has just sat in her apartment not doing anything. She always felt sick. Her first day at Gracepointe, they had her going to eat meals with people, socializing with others and back to herself. She rarely left her home for one day. And always wanted to go home right away. My husband spent his last eight months of life, on hospice, at GracePointe Crossing. While he was resistant to being there at first (after all, who WANTS to be in a nursing home? ) his last months on this earth were very good "in spite of". His care was incredible! Compassionate and skilled nurses and aides, excellent support from nursing administration and resident services, understanding spiritual support, and an unbelievable activities director helped to make his life's end bearable, pleasant, and even fun. What a nice place. My husband is a resident and they take very good care of him when I can't be there. It's like no other place I have been in. It feels like home. Thanks for having everything a person could need in the later life stages.
