Nice little spot... – before when i first went here, there were no signs outside. i'm like, "what the heck am i going to expect?" what i found inside were some pretty hot ladies!! i went two weeks ago and they added a sign :( but all good. still, the space inside is long and there's a nice little open air patio for you smokers out there. there's plenty of seating but they're always taken. nice, chill vibe. my friends and i enjoyed it and would go again!
Cooler than the gopher from Caddyshack – It's in the dregs of Downtown right off the 101, but this is a great jump-off spot. They have these great couches in their smoking alley and comfy seating inside, as well as a couple classic video games.
Rock-and-roll indulgence and Victorian elegance at this chic downtown dig. – The Scene If Liberace and the Rolling Stones got together in the '70s to do an extreme makeover of a downtrodden dive bar, the result may have looked something like this luxurious lounge. The same people behind Three Clubs, Liquid Kitty and North extensively remodeled the onetime speakeasy, adding sparkling glass chandeliers, wide-panel windows, wraparound couches and gold-crusted gopher lamps. Two cushy couches bookend the narrow, alley-like outdoo... read more
Great find in downtown – I was suprised to find such a great place in downtown. Really cool interior, great music and suprisingly normal people. Good beer selection. The area around it is a little sketchy - street parking is plentiful, but I felt nervous. A good place to go after a game at Staples.
Golden Gopher downtown – This bar has one of the nicest looking women's bathrooms you'll find! Service was great even though it was busy. An interesting mix of people. Overall, a great place to relax for a cocktail!
diamond in the rough – Great, neighborhood bar. Chic but not pretentious. Clientele widely vary from downtown yuppies to USC college students. The drinks are reasonably priced and the decor has a historic, NYC downtown twist. It's a little secret since the outside door is a simple, understated black door. Like anything good in LA, it's hidden.
Hipster Moves Downtown – A nice atmosphere, booze to go, cheaps well drinks and PBR. The reviews suggest that this is a hipster/suits/old timers bar, but weekend nights show that this is the new fav for USC undergrads. It is not the artist enclave that the Chintown bars have become.
The Diamond in the Rough – Located in the desolate wilds of downtown, the Golden Gopher is the cool, relaxed bar this part of town needs. The place looks great for starters, and it's got a laid-back vibe, a great jukebox, friendly bartenders, and a mix of hipsters and old businessmen who knew the place before it was recently renovated by the owners of Liquid Kitty and Three Clubs. Go now, before it gets mobbed.
Golden Gopher has a 4.4 star rating with 766 reviews.
Golden Gopher is closed now. It will open tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
