Tom, Thanks for the review. I remember you from check-in and I'm glad you followed our recommendation and popped in to The Bench. They're a great neighbor and indeed do have a nice selection of local beers and VT farm to table style cuisine.
A couple of problems at the beginning of our stay. The General Manager Andrew took care of us immediately when we had a problem. Thank you!!! Also, the best breakfast around. A different homemade muffin everyday that was awesome. The food and wait staff was 5 star!!! Will return.
Overall, Golden Eagle is a pretty nice place. All of the staff members were pleasant and courteous. The resort does need some renovations (inside pool area, bathrooms in some of the rooms), but for the most part, stay was comfortable, and room was good. This resort, however, is slightly expensive.
We have frequented the Golden Eagle many times as our son & family live in the area. We love it, our home away from home!

Great place to stay! Beautiful scenery, wonderful staff, onsite restaurant has great breakfast, and Bashar was not only handsome, but he was also a great housekeeper! Lisa and Olivia was great checking us in/out... thanks for a great stay in beautiful Stowe

Bad service. Got the wrong room of other people (and no breakfast, which we booked and paid in advance), managed ourselves to get the right room (carried luggage ourselves and error took us an hour). Wrong amount written off of credit card. We paid in advance and without any reason an extra 5,50 dollar was reserved and later charged. Contacted and explained everything (error of the manager, booked of 5.50 instead of 50 dollar for amenities), no answer! And no correction. Wrote multiple times. We just stayed here and our stay was awesome! Beautiful grounds and the room was very nice. My only thing was the pet friendly room had carpet like the rest. I had been told that pet friendly rooms usually did not but as a precaution bought my dogs crate for her to sleep in because she still has an occasional accident if not sleeping in it. I would definitely recommend! Friendly helpful staff and a beautiful location. We arrived to find our standard room had been upgraded to a cabin in the woods (we did check it wasn't a mistake!!)!! Beautiful! A range of teas and coffees opposite reception (as well as afternoon snacks) was also a very nice touch. X
