Great sushi in a not overly trendy environment. – My friends and I love getting sushi here on a regular basis because it is a great place for groups and a comfortable dining setting. Unlike a lot of sushi restaurants, this place isn't über contemporary and filled with uncomfortable chairs and tables. It's great sushi and conveniently located. Oh, and on nice days they open the patio overlooking Beacon St., which is a plus. They have such a nice location.
Horrible food – Ginza's website looked great so we thought the food might be good as well. However, there was gravel in my shrimp tempura roll! We returned the food and refused to eat anything else, and they still tried to charge us for everything. It was horrible. I'm definitely filing a complaint with the city.
I'll never go there again. – I'm Japanese.I was looking forward to going to GINZA because I have heard it 's pretty good.But I was totally disappointed!The waitresses' attitudes were so BAD.They treated me like a little kid,though I am a grownup.What is more,when I didn't give them a tip because I didn't want to,they brought the bill to us again! Also the sushi didn't taste good.I do prefer "Blue Fin" in cambridge. I wonder why there are no Japanese waitresses in GINZA?They are Asian,but they are not Japanese at all.
Complete dissatisfaction with mediocre sushi/poor service. – I went here with a group of friends after hearing several high recommendations from friends and clients, only to find mediocre service and food. The waitress was very unaccomodating to our group, and of the ten plates ordered, three had to be sent back because they weren't even correct! Has seriously gone downhill from its glory days. If you know your sushi, stay away! – What a shame!! This used to be one of the best sushi places in town and I have eaten here many times over the past 4 years. Best in Boston – This is one of my favorite sushi spots in the whole city (the only one I recommend is Oishii in Brookline). I've eaten at many sushi spots throughout the country and Ginza is always fresh and tops for Boston (which doesn't have many sushi spots). Overrated – I often hear rave reviews about how good Ginza is, and how great the sushi is. Myself, I find it highly overrated. The sushi quality is good, but not great considering how expensive it is. And it is expensive, even for sushi. The presentation of the food is excellent, the decor and ambience very nice. One of the best Japanese Restaurants – Ginza in Brookline is one of the better Japanese/ Sushi restaurants in Greater Boston. The food and service are great. It's a good place to experiment with different sushi and even Japanese food but the popular stuff is just as good. The only con, is that Friday and Saturday night are busy so it is best to get a reservation or go early.
