They are entirely about profits and don't care about employees. It didn't use to be this way, but once the company founder left, it's been on a steady decline.
I’ve been a proud employee of Gentex for almost 5 years. The quarterly bonuses are good, they paid for us and our families to go to Michigan Adventures every summer and just seemed like they really valued their employees. Not to mention, I have made lifetime friendships there. But my view of them has changed since I decided to take the voluntary layoff after hours have been reduced. Only 2 days of work next week. Imagine getting fired because you didn’t volunteer during this pandemic. Gentex will do that to you.
My mom worked at Gentex for over 34 years untill this virus thing. She was given a choice to either work less hours or draw unemployment, she chose unemployment because she didn’t feel safe working side by side with the other employees. Now because she chose unemployment, she has been terminated. Sad way to treat a employee that has been loyal all these years. She didn’t get to retire the way she wanted to and get to say good by to her friends.
