My primary role is an academic physician who specializes in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. The main things that interest me are: 1. Helping people exercise throughout their lifetimes 2. The use of exercise as the treatment for most medical conditions 3. Recognizing how different demographic factors affect the ability to exercise- in particular, examining how gender and age affect our ability to exercise 4. Improving the quality of communication between patients and their physicians 5. Helping patients become the best po... read more

Dr. Gary Chimes: My patients have had very negative, body shaming experiences. Based on things he said to my patients, it seems likely that his fat-phobia is very strong and he leans on outdated references such as BMI. Doctors who view weight as the issue are unable to help patients get to the true root of the issue.
I've consulted with Dr. Chimes and his practice for several years. He is knowledgeable, patient, and a good communicator, explaining complicated medical terms clearly. His professional network includes referrals to trustworthy professionals like chiropractors and radiologists. I highly recommend Dr. Chimes if you are an aspiring (like me) or experienced athlete struggling with seemingly complicated health issues. By the way, his practice offers Telehealth appointments, which makes it easier to keep in touch with him and his ... read more
I am an Orthopedic surgeon in another state. I saw Dr Chimes video on YouTube about an innovative way to treat a shoulder condition that I suffer from myself. I spoke to him and had the treatment. It has significantly improved my quality of life. Thanks Dr. Chimes!!
I am a physician who has known Dr. Chimes since he was a resident and I have been familiar with his work through residency, Fellowship, and as he developed into a truly national level physician with both skills and reputation to justify that distinction. He is a deeply knowledgeable and thoughtful clinician who takes great pride in excellence in patient care and diagnosing and treating patients who have seen many other physicians without success; he is truly a 'doctors doctor.' I would recommend his patient care without rese... read more
I have had the please of working with Dr Chimes for years; through leadership positions at our Specialty Organization (AAPMR), and even shared patients. I feel fortunate that I can turn to Dr Chimes when I am stumped about a case- and feel confident that he will give an insightful fresh perspective, which is greatly needed. Dr Chimes is a nationally recognized speaker and is excellent at imparting a lot of information in an easy-to-understand fashion. I have learned a tremendous amount from him and look forward to his talks ... read more
Great physician.
The review posted in May 2018 regarding Dr. Chimes has not changed. He still enjoys belittling his patients and has the same condescending and disrespectful attitude. If you are looking for a compassionate doctor, who wants to work together as a team, find another doctor.
Well I'm not sure if Chimes is a liar or just didn't understand some of the factors causing my pain. I went in for one thing and he basically decided everything else that I was doing was a problem and I needed all the physio in the world. Of course I later found out that the problem that I went in for could be greatly improved by avoiding something that was shown on my MRI that he had access to while he was evaluating me. Soooo I really feel like he was just trying to sell me a ton of physio.
He absolutely cured my miserable and activity-limiting back pain. He has a specific list of questions he asks which allowed him to precisely diagnose my issue (confirmed with MRI). He prescribed some key exercises for me (no drugs) which keep my pain away. If I stop the exercises, pain returns, but the exercises are very quick and very easy. He is a genius!!!! Very grateful he is in our community.
