We bought a home that had GAF shingles installed prior to our purchase and did not know GAF requirement to transfer the warranty within 60 days. At five years since the roof install, the GAF shingles are failing, GAF refuses to stand by their product.

I agree with every complaint I read and can't believe this company can get away with making inferior products at the consumers expense. Also, I lost faith in **** ***** for selling this product from principle vendor GAF, which it does not stand behind, I am currently debating to take GAF to small claims court in Wisconsin. I have faulty ridge cap shingles straight out of the box that I proved were manufactured incorrectly and they denied my claim. The warranty department is not interested in customer service, but rather how ... read more

It is awful they lost my materials I sent then blamed me dismissed my claim and then blamed me told me it would cost 200.00 more to refile

Business response:

GAF has no record of receipt of the required claim submittals. Claimant cannot provide any information to prove that the information was sent to GAF. She does not have a Tracking Number for us to research. The $200.00 fee referenced is not imposed by GAF. It is a deposit for those seeking a review by an independent 3rd party appointed by the court and is fully refundable provided the claimant can prove they have GAF products on the roof.

I would give ZERO STARS if I could. We moved into our new house and knew nothing about needing to transfer a warranty. Since we past the 60 day window they will not budge or help us out. As if moving into a new house and having a baby a month later wasn't enough to worry about! CRAPPY company with bad customer service! AVOID!!

It hurts even give them one star! They will make you jump through hoops to avoid paying anything to there customers from a warranty claim. There service is terrible and so is their products. Just as all the other reviews are saying on here, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Every review is 100% accurate. Do not buy GAF products.

Lousy service, lousy products, lousy contractors and really, really lousy guarantee. These people make a mockery of the concept of a guarantee. A GAF guarantee is a meaningless piece of paper. We had a new roof installed by a GAF certified contractor who used only GAF certified materials. Four years later, after a heavy early winter snowfall this November, the roof leaked. Two GAF certified inspectors could not identify the source of the leak. They guessed, but could not confirm, that the leak was caused by a new skylight th... read more

Anti-Consumer company. We recently purchased a home with a LIFETIME Warranty. The product on our roof is TIMBERLINE PRESTIQUE HIGH DEFINITION - top of their line. The roof was installed in 2011. Today I called GAF. Their representative was rude and nasty. He told me with absolutely ZERO care - "We will NOT honor OUR warranty because you didn't transfer it from the prior owner within 60 days of purchasing the home." I asked - do you warranty your products and stand by them or not? No answer. How should I, a NEW homeowner know... read more

My wife and I built a new home and had top-of-the-line GAF shingles installed, and purchased a $700 warranty. These shingles were rated at 130 MPH. We had hip shingle damage with 65-75 MPH winds. When we contacted GAF, the representative gave us a complete run-around. First - they wanted me to climb onto the roof and remove shingles to send back to GAF to prove the damage (I am disabled and cannot climb ladders). We sent in photos taken from the ground showing the shingles standing up - but that wasn't enough for GAF. Then a... read more
