In 1934, Denver's most notorious family, the Smalldones opened up an eatery in the North Side to become the heart of both Italian cuisine and an illicit operation. While drawing the neighborhood's attention to their famous pasta, they also drew the attention from police as Denver's only mafia operated in the basement. It's not quite the hoodlum hangout as it used to be as the Smalldone Empire has fallen and Denver's mayor bought Gaetano's, but the food hasn't changed and Chauncy Smalldone still stops by for lunch. Open Monda... read more

Very good food and service. My husband and I had dinner here without the kids. It was crowded and noisy but the service was decent. The pizza is yummy and the calamari was good too.
Gaetano's newest dish... Cold Raw Chicken My wife and I were in the mood for Italian tonight so we went to Gaetano's which is usually good, but tonight was different. We both ordered dishes with chicken only to find when the plates arrived and my wife cutting in to her chicken breast and actually taking that GOD AWFUL first bite that it was still raw in the middle. Italian food in a historic setting This place has a lot of history and atmosphere. Be sure and look around the place that once was rumored to be a thriving mafia operations center. The food is good. Lots of classic Italian favorites and all well made. Service has been good the 3 times I have been there and parking hasn't been too bad.
Best night in a long time Took my girl on a wed eve. Had reservations everything was perfect. They had the bottle of chianti waiting and the food was wonderful from start to finish. There was a Frank Sinatra impersonator singing and the atmosphere was great! The waiter even brought us limoncello shots on the house. Thanks for a night to remember!
My fiancé and I have always like the restaurant. We go often for dinner and drinks. However, last time we went for dinner right before COVID-19 got really bad we went and waited for open bar as we always do if we don't have a reservation. The lady up front told us we were good to wait for open bar seating. We stand there for about 20-25 minutes, then a couple from the bar seating was leaving and offered us the seats. We were going to seat down and were stoped by a man, I suppose is the owner, telling us he needed those seats... read more

Great Intimate Restaurant
Good food.
The veal parmigiana was outstanding and Amber the bartender made the best pineapple martini since I've been in Denver. You really need to give this place a try.
