In my opinion, the staff takes excellent care of us. I had no idea there were places like this when I got sick. Im glad I found this place. It gives my family piece of mind knowing I am comfortable and always taken care of. I have a ventilator and the respiratory department helped me as mobile as I could be inside and outside the building. The staff has trained my family members to take care of me when I am not in the facility.
The activities are very great here. The caring that everyone gives us is special. The trips are amazing. Other people I talk to can't believe we get to go on trips we do at Irvington. My family even got to go on trips with me. I get to share the experiences with my family and I know that I am not stuck here and get to go on a trip twice a month. I love the activities and trips here. I love the All You Can Eat buffets and going to the Harbor, and Ocean City. I came in here on a ventilator and was expected to never come off. Now, I am off the ventilator, off the trachea, I can speak, I am in a mobilized wheelchair and am free to navigate around the facility. I came here when I was 24 and have been here for four years. I like the patient-staff relationships I have built and we all feel like family. The staff cares about us. When I came here I was on a trachea collar. Now, I can speak and have a lot of mobility. I can go out and visit my family whenever I want. The staff here gave me a reason to get up and push myself. Three years ago I was given the opportunity to leave but I decided to stay and keep all the relationships I made here. I was also able to continue my education while here at Irvington. I like everything here. The care is great. I get services when I need them on time. The staff helps me keep my room comfortable at all times. My husband visits me everyday and I try to be in good spirits all the time. I admire everything here.
For me, personally, I really like the activities. I feel like they do as much as then can to keep us occupied, like trips and special holiday activities. When I have the chance, I enjoy the arts and crafts and karaoke. The staff go above and beyond. The GNA's that accompany us on trips, especially on our trip to the zoo, were very patient with us.
I love the Chaplin! He preaches so well that I want to go to church twice on Sunday. The church gospels songs are amazing. I love bingo! They treat me so well here at Irvington. My daughters like seeming me happy when they come. I bring my family here on holidays and its wonderful. My grandkids love coming for Christmas. The activities are really great. This is very important to me and I can find things to match my interest. I am very young and have connected with other young ladies and became good friends. I have the ability to do arts and crafts whenever I want. I create jewelry in my spare time. It is very convenient to have wifi because I can use it for social connections and online shopping. I am the resident council president and I really enjoy the activities here. I get the chance to look after the residents and have a voice to the administration and help make changes and make sure everyone is happy here. I really like the arts and crafts and the bus trips. The Ocean City is my favorite bus trip. They give us a lot of freedom to do whatever we want to do.
