About this business

Frontera Grill is the sister establishment of the more well known, Topolobampo next door. Both restaurants are from the celebrated Chef Rick Bayless, however this spot focuses more on casual dining. On weekends, Frontera is always packed, but if you are lucky, you can grab a small stool at the bar with drinks and appetizers before the hostess finds your table. Basic margaritas are quite pricey, but one usually packs enough top shelf tequila to sate the palate before the food arrives. Some of the options on the menu include e... read more

We like the Rick Bayless TV show and have two of his cookbooks, but even then this exceeded our expectations. We had queso fundido, shrimp with huevona sauce, duck in Oaxaca chichilo sauce, and due de flanes. Wonderful!.

Very disappointed in the size of the portions. They were really small for the price and the service sucked. We got ignored after waiting outside in the cold and finally getting seated. I probaby would not go back there for dinner. Sad to because we love Mexican food. 😯

Very good food. Very loud. Service fast, efficient but not warm or friendly. I’d try it again based on the food.

I loved it there. We had a superb meal and great margaritas. Only one thing we didn’t like too much was the fact the air conditioning was blowing wind and it got really cold inside. Other then that it fab.

Truly gourmet Mexican. We’ve lived in greater LA, The Bay Area, Las Vegas, plus other great metropolitan areas, and this is definitely our favorite Mexican restaurant. It’s unique flavor pairings and top quality ingredients make it an amazing experience. Can’t get enough.
