Frontera Grill is the sister establishment of the more well known, Topolobampo next door. Both restaurants are from the celebrated Chef Rick Bayless, however this spot focuses more on casual dining. On weekends, Frontera is always packed, but if you are lucky, you can grab a small stool at the bar with drinks and appetizers before the hostess finds your table. Great food! Made fresh while you wait!
I’ve been wanting to eat here for years and it didn’t disappoint at all! Everything was outstanding and our server and the chef were very helpful to me in avoiding my food allergies. So glad I finally got to go to Chicago and eat here. I was only disappointed that I didn’t make it back for a second round. Next time for sure.
Absolutely impressed and well fed! I have never ever (with an expection of my husbands cooking 😁) been served a well balanced meal! The flavors were spot on! The salsas were amazing! my favorite was the habanero salsa! *Must try the duck! and the *Oaxacan Carne Asada!! *Flan! I am very picky when it comes to flan. Chef Rick Bayless, THIS.IS.IT! Cannot wait to try the rest of the menu and your other restaurants! Your Staff is exceptional!!! 5 stars all around! Thank You! — with Nino Sauceda.

Tortilla soup, pozole, green ceviche
Went for brunch on a Saturday. We were there early, first in line. Ordered and received burned hot cakes (they tried to hide the burned cake on the bottom) which were cold, bacon was cold, ham and plantains were cold. We were so excited for brunch for our first visit and were greatly disappointed. However the guac was amazing. Just disappointed with overall experience
