I joined this “nonprofit” as a social worker for one month in 2022 and here is what my impressions were: Cons: A) There were no social worker working there who had tenure and had been there for at least a year. This agency has over a 90% turnover. B) As a salaried employee, you are expected to put in 10-12 hours per day. The agency takes advantage of the salary structure and has you work overtime without adequate compensation. C) There are no benefits (i.e. retirement, health or dental). I started fostering children with safe haven in 2010! I loved the place the workers were supportive and they made me feel like we were a team. I was new to the whole fostering thing and it was quite scary, all the laws, rules and regulations. Safe Haven had flaws, but it just felt like we as a whole had room to improve, no big deal.. slowly but surely workers started leaving and replacements came along, one of the worst is the few that run the agency, now Omar is a good man, was always willing to lend a helping hand to his f... read more
