Very Rude Owner Shelly Fortel – Shelly is one of the cruelest and rudest people I have ever seen. The statements she made about 1 of her employees on Facebook are unbelievable. Judging by how she treats employees I will never go in this place again.
C minus food -- save your $$$ – My wife and I dined here last week, and we're not very impressed with what they have to offer. We ordered a large tossed salad and a large three-topping pizza. The salad came in a styrofoam take-out box: the lettuce was wilted and the mushrooms were slimy with black spots. Poor quality control. Good, not great, for families. – I can't see brining up the local police as a reason to avoid a restaurant... In fact, the local police directed me to Fortel's tonight and then, on second thought, joined me. Very good pizza. Thin, St. Louis style crust with a tangy sauce and real cheese. good but not ron and shirleys – I live in fl now but used to visit Fortels since it was right around the corner from my house. Not bad pizza but Ron and Shirleys on Gravois was my favorite. I know they closed a long time ago but I still have dreams of that pie!!
It is what it is. – Their pizza tastes a lot like what my mother used to make. What separates Fortel's from your regular chains is that the ingredients taste a lot fresher to me...specifically the onions and mushrooms. Also, I haven't found many places that will put shrimp on pizza but this place does and it seems (and smells) so wrong but it tastes so right. I'm usually a huge fan of Imo's but this place comes in at a close second.
its alright – ok fortel's is alright the sauce needs a little something but it s still not like any thing special heck i'd rather if i had a choice either go to napoli's ,blackthorne,la pizza ,faraci's or even raccanelis but if i here one more person say its because they have mozzarella i'll go nuts ok seriouslly mozzarella as a cheese really has no flavor by the recipe . Simply put THEY USE IT BECAUSE ITS CHEAP!!!! But back to the point it's alright .
Best pizza in St. Louis...Fortel's caters to your appetite. Wonderful people!!! – I am a transplant from Pittsburgh Pa. Believe me I had a difficult time finding good pizza in St. Louis. Everything was your everyday pizza chains. Finally, I found Fortel's, a family run Pizzaria for families. Fortel's is a great place to dine after the game. Gross – The pizza is terrible. It is like they pour a bunch of suger into the sauce. It's terrible. I went with a chef freind of mine and he literally demanded his money back.
WOW! – Best pizza I have ever had! Reasonably priced, game room the kids loved, and patio the adults loved. We will be back!!
