Siding with Comcast for municipal internet in Fort Collins was a poor choice. Incredibly transparent and untrue statements about 2B. Shame on you.
This is no longer a neutral Chamber of Commerce. They are bought and paid for by Comcast and other ISP giants and have been spending thousands of dollars fighting the municipal broadband effort with misinformation and outright, demonstrable lies. They have no interest in supporting a measure that would drastically benefit consumers, local businesses, and would create true competition in the market.
It's interesting that while the FoCo CoC is willing to send out propaganda for Comcast, but not post anything on their social media page about fighting against the 2B measure. And that's just the $20,000 that we know about.
I was about to join the Chamber, but they decided (for some magical reason) to fight on Comcast's side in regards to Municipal internet. They wrote blogs and spread misleading information to push their awful propoganda. Not sure if they were lobbied or not or what their incentive was, but keep your awful opinions to yourself. Comcast has been a plague on Fort Collins for years and we're paying more than double the cost for 1/20th the internet speed that we'd get from a municipal ISP. I can't believe they are sabotaging municipal internet here locally. They are the only area chamber fighting against it. They should side with local businesses, not giant corporations. They should help grow local utilities' infrastructure so that local businesses can build on that. Helping local businesses helps the local area. These guys do not get it.
