Built in 1870 by St. Paul pioneer and dry goods tycoon Joseph Forepaugh, this exquisite Victorian mansion is an elegant restaurant bearing his name. Overlooking both historic Irvine Park and the Alexander Ramsey House, Forepaugh's was restored to its original splendor in 1973. The three-story house, consisting of nine separate dining rooms, is filled with chandeliers, rich woodwork, antique furniture and white linen. The extensive menu is French with English subtitles. The chef has been on-site for 16 years. Most entrees inc... read more

French Cruisine at it's best!! – Forepaugh not only has the ambience that's sure to make any night romantic but, it also holds great historical history for St. Paul as well. This is four star dinning. You get great service, food that stimulates any taste bud and it will definatly enrich anyone's night out, especially a couples night out. On top of it all you can come get enchanted by the old ghost stories that still haunt the place today. It's the perfect place to impress someone special, catch a bit to eat before a show at ... read more
Great but a little cool – We were able to get last minute reservations and the décor was beautiful. Our waitress and servers were prompt but not intrusive. Only complete would be the temperature was terribly cold. But we will be back.

A special place – The ambiance at Forepaugh's is really special. Even after dinner I always take time to walk around the neighborhood a little, especially down the hill and around the fountain in the middle of the neighborhood park. The best steak toronado I ever had was here. This is a great place to have dinner before going to The Ordway. They have a complimentary trolley shuttle for those attending the theatre so that you don't have to find a place to park downtown. Nice wine list. Very knowledable wait staff. St. Paul's Hidden Treasure – When boyfriend took me to Forepaughs for my birthday and I found a new favorite restaurant. He is from the French part of Belgium and was curious to go to Forepaughs and see if it was 'real' French foo. Both him and I were definately impressed! The food was unbelievable and the service was oustanding. Just the ambience alone is enough reason to check this place out. I will definately be going back again. I can't reccomend forepaughs enough.
Anniversary appropriate – Nice romantic place for an a special occasion. We went for our 1st anniversary, and were treated very well. We were sat in a nice quiet, yet romantic table, and the food was very good. I have recomended this restaurant to several people for anniversary dinners, and they all came back with positive responses.
Poor – We met some friends at Forepaugh's for dinner and were very disappointed. The food was average and the prices extremely high. I did enjoy the atmosphere but wouldn't go back for the food.
Forepaugh's has a 4.6 star rating with 499 reviews.
Forepaugh's is open now. It will close at 6:00 p.m.
